Although today's Patna i.e. Pataliputra is counted among the ancient cities of the world. Now another unique figure has been added to this Patna. There are 29 such trees in Patna city, whose age is estimated to be more than 100 years. The oldest tree in the capital is the Maulsari tree of Bhikkham Das Thakurbari located in Bari Path of Bakarganj, which is more than 200 years old.

Recently, a survey was conducted by Patna Municipal Corporation for the heritage trees of the city. This interesting figure has come out in it. There are 426 such trees in the city, whose age is more than 50 years. While there are 16 such trees whose age is between 80 years to 100 years.

Maulsari tree is the oldest

The oldest tree in the capital is the Maulsari tree of Bhikkham Das Thakurbari located in Bakarganj, Baripath. This tree is 200 years old. After this, there is the Vaijayanti tree planted in Ayodhya Das Thakurbari. This tree is 150 years old. Apart from this, the banyan tree located near Peer Muhani Noorani Mosque, the Peepal and Gular tree planted in Saraswati Lane are more than 130 years old. The banyan tree planted at Paswan Chowk in Ambedkar Nagar Gali in Sheikhpura area of ​​the capital and the banyan tree planted near the CDA building are 120 years old.

The banyan tree located under the busiest Chiraiyatand bridge of the capital is 110 years old. Apart from this, the Pakkad tree located in the Patna High Court premises is 100 years old. In the survey of Patna Municipal Corporation, it has come to light that there are 21 trees in Patna city which are 100 years old or more. It has become clear in the survey that there are 29 such trees in the city, whose age is more than 100 years. The special thing is that there are 426 such trees here, whose age is estimated to be more than 50 years. The maximum number of trees is 120 in Bankipur area.

Banyan trees have a long lifespan

Out of the 29 trees which are more than 100 years old, 15 are banyan trees. While the age of the banyan tree in the premises near Gate No. 13 of Bihar Vidhan Sabha has been estimated to be 95 years. The fig tree near the State Guest House is 90 years old. The tamarind tree near the CM House is 85 years old. Apart from this, the age of the banyan tree located near the Nepali Guard Outhouse near the Raj Bhavan and the banyan tree near the pond located in Alkapuri Main Road has been estimated to be 85 years.

Maulsari is a medicinal tree

Maulsari is considered a medicinal tree. It is used in Ayurveda. Its leaves are shiny and the structure of the tree is very beautiful. It is found in almost every part of the country. The height of this tree is thirty to forty feet. Its flowers are small and star-shaped. These flowers are yellow and white in color which give a mild fragrance. The most special thing is that this tree is not affected by autumn. It is also known as Bakul, Maulsiri, Mukur, Singhkesar. Its fruit is edible and is also used in traditional medicines.

Bhagwati Sharan Mishra, the priest of Bhikham Das Thakur Bari, says- The tooth brush of this tree is considered to be a panacea especially for teeth. The branches of the tree are delicate and fibrous. Brushing with it cures all dental problems. Boiling its leaves in water and gargling with it gives great relief from toothache. Its flowers are considered to be very sacred. The flowers bloom at night and fall off on their own in the morning.
