Randeep Hooda's film 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' has reached the Oscars. The film's producer Sandeep Singh has announced that 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' has been officially sent to the Oscars. This biopic of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was released in theaters on 22 March 2024. The makers have announced this through a post on Instagram.
Sandeep Singh wrote in a collaboration post with the makers, "Honoured and humbled! Our film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has been officially sent to the Oscars. Thank you very much to the Film Federation of India for this praise. This journey has been amazing, we are grateful to those who supported us."

The way Sandeep Singh has given the information about the Oscars submission, many people feel that Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has been sent by the Film Federation of India. However, the Film Federation of India has not given any information about this. On Monday, the Film Federation of India announced that out of a list of 29 films, they have decided to send Kiran Rao's film Lapata Ladies as India's official entry to the Oscars.
To end the confusion, TV9 Hindi Digital spoke to Sandeep Singh. When he was asked whether the Film Federation of India has sent your film to the Oscars, Sandeep replied in the affirmative. But when asked that Missing Ladies has been officially sent, then how was your film sent? Sandeep did not answer this and said that he will talk later. On this matter, a source told TV9 that the makers have sent Swatantrya Veer Savarkar to the Oscars on their own behalf.
On the selection of Missing Ladies, Film Federation of India's jury head Jahnu Barua said, "The jury had to choose a film that represents India in every way. The film had to represent India's social system. Indianness is very important, and Missing Ladies came out number one in this case." He said that it is important that the best film that can represent India should be sent as the official entry. It is possible that there may be a better film than the 29 nominated films, but the jury can choose only from the ones given to them.
