Turkey said that it would provide the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) with evidence pertaining to the death of a Turkish-American lady in the occupied West Bank.

Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, passed away on September 6 from her wounds after being shot during a demonstration against an Israeli settlement close to the Palestinian hamlet of Beita, according to Xinhua news agency.

“We will provide the ICJ with further material as well as a forensic report on Eygi. Furthermore, we will provide proof for the current ICC probe on Israeli aggressors,” Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said, without giving a timeframe.

Eygi was murdered while participating in a routine protest march in Beita, a town close to Nablus that is often attacked by Jewish settlers.

“We responded with fire toward a main instigator of violent activity who threw rocks at the forces and posed a threat to them,” the Israel Defence soldiers (IDF) said in response. The IDF also said that it was looking into claims of a fatality involving a foreign person.

Turkiye has been an outspoken opponent of Israel throughout the conflict that has been raging in Gaza since October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched its offensive.

Ankara recently cut off commerce with Israel and attempted to involve itself in an International Court of Justice (ICJ) genocide lawsuit against Israel.
