For some time now, there has been a lot of discussion in Bollywood about the high fees of stars. Big stars always demand fees of crores of rupees from producers, whether the film is a hit or not. Now, producer-director Karan Johar has made a similar revelation. Karan said that for his recently released film Kill, the big actors of the industry were demanding a fee of Rs 40 crores. He said that this was the budget of the film.

In a roundtable interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Karan Johar said, "I produced a small film Kill. I spent money on that film because it was a high concept film. I cast new actors in it. It was a high concept film. You cannot make it in any other way. The film had to be made on a train. Every star was asking me for the same amount of money as the budget of this film."

'I can't pay that much money'

Karan Johar said, "I said how can I give you so much money when the budget is only 40 crores. You are also asking for the same amount. Will you give me a guarantee that the film will do a business of 120 crores. Who gives such a guarantee? Then finally I took a new boy. And I have to say that he was an outsider." Karan said that he took a new boy in the film who was an outsider, but no one praised him for this.

Zoya Akhtar interrupted Karan

During this, he said that the films of many big actors are getting an opening of Rs 2-3 crore. Karan was referring to stars like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan. He says, "Everyone has to look at the low cost of their fees." Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar interrupted Karan and said, "Karan, you should just stop giving them money."

On hearing Zoya's words, Karan said that he has stopped giving so much money now. He said, "I don't give so much money now. 'Thank you very much, I can't give you money' I am not giving money to anyone. How were your last few films? How much opening did you get from them? By what right are you asking me for so much money?"
