According to Ayurveda, six juices are necessary in food to keep the body healthy. These juices are Madhur (sweet), Lavana (salty), Amla (sour), Katu (bitter), Tikta (pungent) and Kashaya (astringent). Balanced intake of these juices helps in maintaining proper level of nutrients for the body.

Importance of six Rasas in Ayurveda

Madhura Rasa (sweet)- It gives energy and strength to the body. Its proper consumption provides the body with essential nutrition, but its excessive consumption can cause problems like diabetes.

Amla juice (sour) – Apart from boosting digestion, it replenishes the body with vitamins and minerals, thereby strengthening immunity.

lavan juice (salt) – It replenishes water loss and improves digestion. However, its excessive consumption can cause problems like high blood pressure.

Kashaya Rasa (bitter)- It protects the body from toxins and improves digestion. Its specialty is that its consumption also increases immunity.

Spicy (bitter) juice- This juice works to detox the body naturally. It also improves the digestive system.

bitter juice (pungent) – It provides energy to the body, but its excessive consumption can cause digestive problems.
