Kangana Ranaut Statement On Farmers: BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has again forced the BJP to distance itself from the farmers by making a statement demanding the re-implementation of the repealed agricultural laws.

Kangana Ranaut News: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has had to face embarrassment for the second time in a month. BJP has distanced itself from her statement related to agricultural laws. Kangana herself also said that this is her personal opinion and the party has nothing to do with it. After being reprimanded by the party again, Kangana has released a video message. Kangana is saying that she has to keep in mind that she is not just an artist but also a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP MP said 'It is the duty of all of us workers to respect the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.'

Kangana said that my statements should not be my own, they should be the party's stand. She said in the video, 'If anyone is hurt by my statements, then I apologize. I take my words back!' Kangana Ranaut clarified that her views were personal and did not represent the party's stand.

Kangana Ranaut apologized, withdrew her statement

Kangana Ranaut said in the video message, 'In the last few days, the media asked me some questions on the farmers' law and I suggested that farmers should request Prime Minister Modi to withdraw the farmers' law. Many people are disappointed and frustrated by my statement. When the farmers' law was proposed, many of us supported it but our Prime Minister withdrew it with great sensitivity and sympathy and it is the duty of all of us activists to respect the dignity of his words. I also have to keep in mind that I am no longer an artist, I am a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party and my opinion should not be my own opinion but the stand of the party. So if anyone is disappointed by my words and my thinking, then I will be sorry and I take back my words.'

After the uproar, Kangana returned to the party line.

While talking to the media on Tuesday, Kangana said, 'I know this statement may be controversial, but all three agricultural laws should be repealed. Farmers themselves should demand it.' She had said that all three laws were beneficial for the farmers, but the Center repealed them in view of the protests by farmer groups in some states. Farmers are the pillars of strength in the development of the country. I want to appeal to them to demand the withdrawal of the laws for their own good.

Citing Kangana's remarks, the Congress had said that the ruling party is trying to bring back the three laws repealed in 2021, Haryana will give a befitting reply to this. Due to this statement, Kangana had to face criticism even from her own party. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that the statement given by Kangana on agricultural laws is her personal opinion. She is not authorized to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP.

Quoting Gaurav Bhatia's post, Kangana Ranaut wrote, 'Of course, my views on agricultural laws are personal. They do not represent the party's stand on those bills. Thank you.' Then she released a video message expressing regret over the statement.

Just last month, Kangana was warned by the BJP over her comments on the farmers' protest. Then Kangana had said that the protest against the agricultural laws could lead to a 'Bangladesh-like situation' in India.

'Anti-farmer hate mentality is deeply ingrained in the BJP'

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in response to Kangana's comment, alleged that anti-farmer hate mentality is deeply ingrained in the ruling party. He said that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is against the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Kharge posted on 'X', 'Even after the martyrdom of 750 farmers, the anti-farmer BJP and Modi government have not realized their grave crime. There is talk of re-implementing the three anti-farmer black laws. The Congress party strongly opposes this.' He said that the Modi government, which got the farmers crushed under the vehicle, used barbed wire, tear gas from drones, nails and guns... everything against our Annadaata. He said that the 62 crore farmers of India will never be able to forget all this. 

Following the farmers' protest, the three farm laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Act; and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act - were repealed in November 2021. The farmers' protest began in late November 2020 and ended after Parliament repealed all three laws. These laws came into force in June 2020 and were repealed in November 2021. (Bhasha inputs)
