External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has stated in New York, USA regarding relations with China. Speaking at the Asia Society Policy Institute, Jaishankar said, 'We have had a difficult history with China. There are many border-related agreements with China. In 2020, China violated the agreement on LAC and we have responded to it. Until China establishes peace and harmony, it will be difficult to move the relationship forward.
He said the main issue between the two countries is patrolling on the border. He also stressed that India-China relations are the key to Asia's future. If the world becomes multipolar, then Asia will also have to become multipolar. Relations between China and India will affect the future of Asia and the world.
India has been adopting the same approach with Pakistan as well. India has been saying in relations with Pakistan that until Pakistan does not put a stop to the terrorists coming to India from its soil, India will not normalize relations with it.
Jaishankar was speaking at a program titled 'India, Asia and the World' organized by the Asia Society and the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York. When he was asked about relations with China, he said that we have had a difficult history with China. He emphasized the Galwan clash in 2020 and said that the main issue between the two countries at this time is patrolling. He said that in 2020, Chinese soldiers came very close to Indian soldiers, after which many soldiers were killed from both sides.
Jaishankar said that this situation has soured the relations between the two countries. Jaishankar stressed that until both sides restore peace and stability on the border, it will be difficult to advance the comprehensive relations between India and China.
The Galwan River flows from Aksai Chin and meets India's Shyok River. In 2020, Chinese soldiers crossed the LAC, exceeding the limits of their patrolling. After which the soldiers of both the countries came face to face. About 20 Indian soldiers were killed in these clashes between the soldiers. There were different reports of casualties from China, in some it was said that 4 Chinese soldiers were killed and in some, it was said that 40 Chinese soldiers were killed. At the same time, the Chinese government denied the death of any of its soldiers.
