Aamir said, “Earlier the climax was that we kill the defense minister and try to escape from the city and then each one of us is shot at different places. For this I asked Mehra, 'I liked your script very much but I did not understand the climax because why are they running away? Do they think they have done something wrong?' So he said, 'Yes, why are they running away?'”

For the climax of the film, Aamir told the director, “Bhagat Singh has been shown in the whole film, so Bhagat Singh did not run away, so he willingly got arrested and then said whatever he had to say. So these people should also not run away. I have a story which I wrote many years ago. According to my climax, there are two people who get stuck in a situation where they need to communicate with people. So they enter a TV studio and take over it. Then they go live, so that they can start telling their story to the people.”
