Traffic Rules:  The rules related to changing the paint or color of cars in India are quite strict. If you change the color of your car, it is legally required to register it with the RTO (Regional Transport Office). Under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory to update the change in the color of the car in the vehicle's registration certificate (RC). If you change the color without informing and do not update it, you may have to pay a fine.

What does the rule say?

Inform the RTO if you change the colour of the car: If you change the original colour of your car and get it painted in some other colour, then it is mandatory to register it immediately with the RTO. For this, you will have to make changes in the RC (Registration Certificate) of the car.

Amendment in registration: When you inform the RTO, it will enter the new colour of your car in your RC, after which you will get a new RC. This process legally recognises the new colour of the car.

Penalty: If you change the colour without informing the RTO and are caught during police checking, you can be fined heavily. In some cases, your car may also be confiscated.

So, if you are thinking of changing the colour of your car, it is important to register it with the RTO so that you can avoid any legal action or penalty.
