India's support in UNSC: Global leaders raise voice for permanent membership

India in UNSC: On Friday (27 September 2024), many countries came in support of India on this issue and praised India and called it deserving of it. Let us know what which country said in support of India.

After France, many other countries of the world have also started speaking in favor of India's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council.

Bhutan: Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay praised India at the United Nations, citing its remarkable economic growth and leadership in the Global South and supported India's bid for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Britain: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday supported India's bid for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Addressing the meeting, Keir Starmer said, “We want permanent membership in the Council, Brazil, India, Japan and African Want to see representation.” Germany also wants to see more seats as a permanent member and for elected members.”

America: A few days ago, US President Joe Biden also advocated the permanent inclusion of India in the UNSC.

France: Earlier on Wednesday (24 September 2024), French President Emmanuel Macron had also strongly supported the inclusion of India as a permanent member of the UNSC.

Emmanuel Macron said that “As long as we have a Security Council that is blocked, I would say that, depending on the interests of each side, we will have difficulty moving forward. France and I reiterate here that we are in favor of expansion. Germany, Japan, India and Brazil should be permanent members of the Security Council.

The UNSC is composed of 15 member states, including 5 permanent members with veto power, while the remaining 10 members are elected for two-year terms.

The five permanent members of UNSC include China, Britain, France, Russia and America. France and America have supported India for this permanent membership.
