BCCI made historic announcement after 17 years, players will earn extra in IPL 2025

The next season of the Indian Premier League is going to prove to be even more wonderful for the players. In the mega auction to be held before the next season, which player will play for which team and how much salary he will get, it will be known only after a few weeks, but it is certain that during the tournament, the players will get a chance to show their talent on the field. , their earnings will increase more than before. In a historic decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that match fees will be paid to the players from the next IPL season, due to which a player can get an additional amount of up to Rs 1.05 crore in addition to his salary.

IPL, which started in 2008, has completed 17 seasons so far, in which many players have earned crores. Last season itself, Australia's legendary fast bowler Mitchell Starc was bought for Rs 24.75 crore. At the same time, many young players have also been bought at their base price, which was Rs 10 lakh at the beginning of IPL and now it is Rs 20 lakh. In this way, the players selected for any season got the same amount of money for that season for which they were bought in the auction. Now it is going to increase.

Now players will have extra income

In the last 17 seasons of IPL, players used to get only their auction fees as salary, but now for the first time, players will also get match fees like in international cricket. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced in a post on social media after the IPL Governing Council meeting on Saturday that players will also get match fees in the IPL from the next season. Shah told that players will get Rs 7.5 lakh for one match. He told that in this way, if a player plays all the 14 matches of the league stage, then it will increase to Rs 1.05 crore.

Now if a player, apart from the 14 matches of the league stage, plays 3 more matches including the final in the playoffs, he can earn an additional Rs 1.23 crore in total. This means that whether a player's auction fee is in crores or the base price is only Rs 20 lakh, he will get money for the number of matches he plays during the tournament. Shah said that all the franchises will keep a separate fund of Rs 12.60 crore for match fees.

Awaiting auction purse and retention rules

This is such a decision of BCCI, which no one had predicted. It is definitely believed that this time BCCI can increase the salary purse of the franchise for the mega auction from the current Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. Now it remains to be seen whether this Rs 12.60 crore will be a part of the auction purse or separate from it. Shah has made this announcement at a time when everyone is waiting for the board's decision regarding the retention rules.
