Sevilla are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The 25-year-old has played a bit-part role under the new head coach Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium so far in the 2024-25 campaign.

Soumare featured on the opening day of the Premier League campaign for the Foxes, coming off the bench for the final 11 minutes of the draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then, the midfielder has failed to make an appearance in the top flight for the East Midlands outfit, being left out of the squad on the weekend.

Following his permanent move from Ligue 1 giants Lille to Leicester during the summer of 2021, Soumare has played 61 competitive matches for the Foxes.

Leicester man Soumare wanted by Sevilla?

According to Let's go My Sevilla FCLa Liga outfit Sevilla are keen on securing the services of Soumare during the upcoming January transfer window.

The report claims that the Spanish side want to sign the 25-year-old on a loan deal for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Soumare spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Sevilla while Leicester were battling away for promotion in the Championship, featuring 34 times across all competitions.

It is understood that Garcia Pimienta‘s side had a €15m (£12.5m) option to buy for the Frenchman at the end of the season but did not trigger the clause due to financial issues.

Despite this, it is believed that Sevilla could be back in the market for Soumare during the January trading point, offering him an escape route out of the King Power Stadium.

Difficult period for Soumare

With Cooper making a raft of changes to his starting XI, Soumare started in the middle of the park for Leicester’s EFL Cup third-round tie with League Two Walsall on September 24.

At the base of the engine room, the 25-year-old partnered Hamza Choudhury in a team which was frustrated by their fourth-tier hosts at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Prompting boos from the away end in the West Midlands, Leicester’s performance led to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes, with the Premier League side eventually advancing courtesy of penalty kicks.
