There have been many discussions over the future BCCI secretary since Jay Shah was named ICC chairman. With Shah scheduled to start work at the International Cricket Council on December 1, competition to succeed him at the BCCI is intensifying, with a number of candidates vying for the prestigious position. A PTI report claims that there are up to four contenders to take Shah’s job at BCCI. Let’s examine them now.

Jaitley Rohan
Rohan Jaitley is the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and the son of Arun Jaitley, the former Union Minister and vice-president of the BCCI. The first Delhi Premier League was just held with great success. Nonetheless, when questioned about the rumors, he stayed silent on the BCCI secretary issue.

Shelar, Ashish
Indian politician Ashish Shelar, who now serves as the BCCI treasurer, represents the BJP. Shelar is the head of the Mumbai branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party and has been active in cricket administration for several years.

Saikia Devajit
Currently serving as the joint secretary of BCCI, Devajit Saikia is another name that is being mentioned as a potential successor to Shah. Saikia, an ex-cricketer, played for Assam in the Ranji Trophy before taking over as the association’s secretary. In his role as secretary, he significantly altered the ACA and was a member of the core group that successfully arranged the first Twenty20 International (T20I) between Australia and India at the brand-new ACA Stadium in Barsapara in 2017, which was followed by an ODI between India and the West Indies in the same year.

Patel Anil
Currently serving as the Gujarat Cricket Association secretary, Anil Patel is being considered as a potential candidate for the BCCI secretary position. Patel managed Team India in the 2023 WTC final matchup with Australia. Additionally, he managed the Indian squad throughout many trips and also held same position for the Indian U-19 team, which was defeated by Bangladesh in the 2020 World Cup final.

Names for Shah’s replacement at BCCI have also surfaced, including Arun Singh Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya, who were elected to the IPL Governing Council during the organization’s AGM on Saturday.
