Stock Market Holidays: Market closed today on Gandhi Jayanti, there will be no trading in any segment including equity on BSE and NSE

Today, Wednesday, October 2, there is a holiday in the stock market on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Therefore, traders will not be able to buy and sell shares on BSE and NSE. Apart from every Saturday and Sunday, the stock market is also closed on some public holidays, one of which is Gandhi Jayanti.

According to the data available on BSE, there is a trading holiday on October 2 for all segments including equity segment, equity derivatives segment, SLB segment, currency derivatives segments, NDS-RST, Tri Party Repo, Commodity Derivatives Segment, Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) segment.

On NSE also, there is a holiday on Gandhi Jayanti for all segments including equities, mutual funds, security lending and borrowing schemes, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, commodities derivatives, interest rate derivatives, corporate bonds, new debt segments and negotiated trade reporting platform. There is even a clearing holiday.

On which other dates will the market be closed in future

In the rest of the year 2024, apart from Saturday and Sunday, the stock markets will remain closed on Diwali-Lakshmi Puja on November 1, Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 15 and Christmas on December 25. However, the stock markets open for one hour in the evening for Muhurat trading on Diwali.

The market fell for the third consecutive day on October 1

On Tuesday, October 1, the stock market remained in decline for the third consecutive trading session. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 84,266.29, down 33.49 points or 0.04 percent. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty also closed marginally lower by 13.95 points or 0.05 per cent at 25,796.90. In three trading sessions, the Sensex lost a total of 1,570 points or about 2 per cent, while the Nifty lost 419 points or 1.6 per cent.
