Life Style: Navratri festival (Shardiya Navratri 2024) is starting from today i.e. Thursday. 3 October. It is one of the most important festivals of Hinduism and is celebrated every year in the month of Ashwin. During this period, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Furthermore, the nine-day fast helps people immerse themselves in the devotion of Mata Rani. Avoid eating grains and garlic during this nine-day fast.

In such a situation, only fruit dishes are consumed during the fast. Buckwheat puri and potato curry can be eaten during the fast. If you also want to keep a fast for Mata Rani this Navratri, then you can prepare your fast potatoes with this method.

4 medium potatoes, boiled and peeled

2 tbsp ghee or vegetable oil

1 teaspoon cumin

1-2 chopped green chillies

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 teaspoon rock salt

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon garam masala (optional)

2 tbsp fresh coriander (for garnish)

lemon juice (optional)

– First of all boil the potatoes until they become soft. When they cool down, peel them and cut them into cubes.

Next, heat ghee or vegetable oil in a frying pan on medium flame.

When the ghee becomes hot, add cumin seeds to it and let it boil.

Now add chopped green chillies and grated ginger and fry for a minute until the aroma comes out.

– Stir gently to combine the potatoes with the spices.

Now add rock salt and red chili powder to it. Mix everything well so that the spices are distributed evenly.

Then cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes while stirring occasionally.

Add garam masala, if using, and mix well.

Finally, turn off the flame and garnish with fresh coriander. You can also add lemon juice to it for a spicy and tangy taste.

Serve it as a side dish with hot Kattu Atta Puri.
