On April 17, 2025, commercial flights to both local and international locations are scheduled to begin operating out of Noida International Airport. This decision was made in a high-level meeting on Tuesday that was presided over by Noida International Airport Ltd. (NIAL). Yamuna International Airport Ltd. (YIAPL), a Zurich AG subsidiary, provided a comprehensive roadmap for the airport’s launch.

According to a TOI article, NIAL CEO Arun Vir Singh said that the concessionaire has filed a plan to start operations by mid-April. Still, steps are being taken to get the debut date closer. As per the Foreign Air Transport Association (IATA), Singh issued a warning, stating that any postponement beyond the deadline of April 17 might result in a six-month delay in the clearance and scheduling of foreign flights.

The second airport of its kind in the Delhi-NCR area, Noida International Airport, was originally slated to open for business in September of this year. It was to accommodate 65 daily flights, including 62 domestic, 2 international, and 1 cargo aircraft. According to Singh, it’s doubtful that the number of flights would alter in the next year. There are continuing talks with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about local operations and the IATA regarding international routes.

Airlines have already applied for flights to foreign locations; however, route approvals are still waiting in accordance with bilateral agreements between governments. At a later this month DGCA meeting, domestic flight slots will be decided.

The day of the airport’s opening is anticipated to see the departure of the first international flight from Noida. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) flight trials, which are slated for November 30, are part of the project’s ongoing steady development. In order to comply with the appropriate approval standards, Code C aircraft will be used in these tests. Partner airlines such as IndiGo and Akasa Air will conduct full-crew flight tests to evaluate runway readiness and verify the airport’s operating systems.

A number of calibrations have already been evaluated by DGCA, and testing of the instrument landing system (ILS) is scheduled for October 4–6. By October 10th, DGCA will receive a comprehensive report on the runway; by November 15th, further paperwork pertaining to flying procedures will be delivered. By November 25, DGCA permissions for flying testing are anticipated. In December, YIAPL intends to submit an application for an airplane license, which should be approved by the middle of March 2025.

By February 6, 2025, booking information and airport codes will be posted on the IATA website. It is anticipated that tickets will go on sale in January or February. Bookings for domestic flights will open 90 days in advance, while those for foreign travel will open 60 days before departure.

Covering 1,334 hectares near Jewar, the first phase of Noida International Airport would include a runway and a terminal built to handle 12 million passengers a year. It is anticipated that the project would grow in four stages, becoming a multi-hub complex in the end.
