Prez, VP, and PM pay respect to Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri on their birth anniversary

On Wednesday, the country’s leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat in the national capital. Gandhi was known around the world as a leader of peace and nonviolence.

It’s also known as the International Day of Peace and Nonviolence. People should remember that nonviolence has the power to change countries in a time of political, social, and natural problems.

The leaders also brought flowers to Vijay Ghat to honor former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of his 120th birthday. Shastri shares his birthday with Mahatma Gandhi.

In honor of Gandhi, President Murmu went to the Rajghat in New Delhi to see the Sarva Dharma Prarthana. She said, “His ideas influenced many great people around the world, who used Gandhi ji’s ideals in their own lives.”

“On this happy occasion, let us resolve to embrace the values of truth, nonviolence, love, and purity, and with the idea of Gandhiji’s dream India in mind, let us keep working to improve the country and society,” the President said. She said that Bapu’s life, in which he lived a life of truth and nonviolence, is a special lesson for all people.

On the date of Shastri’s birth, she said, “On the occasion of his birth anniversary, I pay my humble tribute to him.” Throughout his life, Shastriji lived by the greatest standards of simplicity, honesty, and pride. India did well in economics, strategy, and other areas under his strong guidance. Let’s be moved by his story and promise to make India stronger.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi paid respect to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary. He talked about how Bapu’s life and ideas of truth, peace, and equality have had a long effect on the country and how they continue to inspire people today.

“On the anniversary of his birth, greetings to Pujya Bapu from everyone in our country.” He said, “His life and ideas based on truth, harmony, and equality will always be an inspiration to the people of his country.”

The PM wrote in honor of Shashtri ji, “Respectful tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. He gave his life for the soldiers, farmers, and the country’s pride.”

Speaker Birla led Swachhata Abhiyan at Prerna Sthal in Parliament grounds to honor Gandhi Jayanti. A lot of people, including Lok Sabha Secretary-General Utpal Kumar Singh and Secretariat staff, took part in the Abhiyan. That day, Birla told everyone to make Swachhata a part of their lives and to get other people to clean up their areas too. He also laid flowers at the figure of Mahatma Gandhi in Prerna Sthal on Parliament grounds.

The Speaker laid flowers at the images of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Shastri in Central Hall, Samvidhan Sadan to honor them.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J. P. Nadda, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh, along with members of parliament, past members, and other important people, paid respect to the two leaders at their pictures in Central Hall, Samvidhan Sadan.

Birla said this about Mahatma Gandhi on his X handle: “On the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, I pay my humble tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, seeker of truth and messenger of peace and nonviolence.” His whole life shows how loyal and dedicated he is to his country. We are motivated to work hard for the growth of the country and society as a whole because of Gandhi Ji’s ideas.

He said this about the former Prime Minister: “Humble tributes on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji.” He was a very important part of the fight for freedom and India’s progress after it got its independence. Shastri Ji’s commitment and hard work are still an example for us all and for people who work for the government.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 in the town of Porbandar in the Indian state of Gujarat. He chose nonviolent resistance and led the fight for freedom from British colonial rule with great patience.

The Indian Prime Minister from 1964 to 1966 was Shashtri. He was born in Uttar Pradesh in 1904. At age 61, he died in Tashkent on January 11, 1966. This was not long after he signed the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan.
