New Delhi, October 2 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to the mother of star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, thanking her for her loving gesture and praising the churma sent by her.

PM Modi wrote in the letter, “Respected Saroj Devi ji, regards! Hope you are healthy, safe and happy. Yesterday, I got the opportunity to meet Bhai Neeraj at a banquet organized on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of Jamaica to India.

While discussing with him, my happiness increased further when he gave me delicious churma made by your hands. After eating this churma today, I could not stop myself from writing a letter to you. Brother Neeraj often talks about this churma with me, but today I got emotional after eating it.

“This gift of your immense love and affection reminded me of my mother. Mother is the embodiment of strength, affection and dedication. It is a coincidence that I have received this Prasad from Mother a day before the Navratri festival. I fast during these 9 days of Navratri. In a way, this churma of yours has become my main food before my fast. The way the food prepared by you gives energy to brother Neeraj to win a medal for the country. Similarly, this churma will give me the strength to serve the nation for the next 9 days.

On this occasion of Shakti Parv Navratri, I along with you assure the mother power of the country that I will continue to work with more service spirit to realize the resolve of a developed India. Heartfelt gratitude to you!

He and PM Modi have been in the news many times for their fun-filled 'churma' conversation with Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra.

Before the Paris Olympics, PM Modi had also made a special demand from Neeraj Chopra, who is going to lead the Indian contingent in the Olympics. PM Modi had asked golden boy Neeraj Chopra to bring churma made by his mother. After returning from the Olympics, Neeraj promised to feed special churma made by his mother to PM Modi, which he has now fulfilled.
