Several individuals in Bjnor began feeling ill on Thursday, the first day of the Sharadiya Navratri holiday, after consuming cuisine prepared with supposedly toxic buckwheat flour. Numerous symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and trembling throughout the body began to appear in hundreds of individuals. They were admitted right away to adjacent CHC facilities. The growing patient load overwhelmed the CHC Center’s health department. The district hospital received those who were in serious condition and continued to treat them there.

Ankit Kumar Agarwal, the DM, SP, and CMO of Bijnor, evaluated the issue and said, “A lot of people have been sick after consuming buckwheat flour. People have had diarrhea and vomiting. There are 125–150 of these patients known to exist. The district hospital has received referrals from certain patients. Samples have been sent to the laboratory, and anyone found guilty will face severe consequences.”

In Bijnor, 125–150 People Were Admitted to the Hospital With Possible Food Poisoning

It is disheartening that adulterators willfully jeopardize their health and religion in order to satisfy their avarice. Similar events occurred in a few villages in the Chandpur district of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, where Sharadiya Navratri began yesterday. Faith-related individuals had also observed the first fast. They broke their fast with buckwheat flour dishes last evening. After a while, food sickness began to affect the whole household. Reports of nausea, vomiting, and bodily tremors began to flow in. Patients soon began to pour into the adjacent CHC facility. Critically ill patients were moved throughout the night to the district hospital,” he said.

In addition, the CMO inquired about the patients’ conditions and informed the hospital and village chief for improved care. All night long, patients with food sickness continued to arrive. Both government and private hospitals provide medical care to patients. Testing is being done on the tainted deadly buckwheat flour. A few samples have also been obtained by the food department.
