Plastic Effects: The Government of India has taken steps to deal with plastic waste with the ban on single-use plastic, but will this ban of the government really be effective in dealing with the havoc of plastic.

'Start the morning with plastic' sounds strange, but it is 100 percent true. as soon as you wake up
First of all, put the plastic toothbrush in the mouth. This is where the friendship between plastic and you begins every day. Whether you use bucket and mug for bathing or use plastic tiffin for office and have lunch in it, the drinking bottles are also made of plastic. In this way, plastic has become a part of our habits everywhere, all the time, and it is our habit, due to which today we are forced to face the havoc of plastic.

Today the whole world is on the verge of destruction due to plastic waste. Talking about statistics, in India alone, 16.5 million tonnes of plastic is being consumed annually, out of which 43 per cent of the plastic is used only once and 80 per cent of the plastic is thrown directly into the garbage. It is clear that the use of plastic has now increased so much that the government had to take the help of law to control its use.
On the occasion of the last Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address, has called for getting rid of single use plastic by the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. However, apart from this, many state governments at the state level have also taken steps in this direction, but the result of all of them has been zero till now. Because till now the government has not received the support of the general public in these efforts made for plastic ban. That is why PM Narendra Modi himself has taken the lead. He believes that unless there is public awareness, it is impossible for such efforts to be successful.

Plastic changed lifestyle

In fact, unless we and you think in this direction, it is difficult to deal with plastic waste. Because plastic has become an important part of our lifestyle in the last 10 to 15 years. If you think back to one or one and a half decade ago, you will remember that plastic was not used that much then. At that time, when people went to the market, they used to carry a cloth bag with them, in which they used to bring all the things together, but as the trend of plastic bags increased, people stopped leaving the house with the bag. From vegetables to ration, from small items to big items, you started getting everything in plastic packets. Namkeen or biscuits worth Rs 5 are also available in plastic packets.

Infatuation with convenience and plastic

Leave the rest of the things, even the eating utensils started coming in plastic, so that you can use them once and then throw them away. Neither the hassle of washing them nor of maintaining them, and also the cheapest. Through these conveniences and affordable rates, plastic made its place in every home. If you ever take a look in the kitchen, you will find that whereas earlier ration and other food items were kept in tin or still containers, now things are kept in plastic containers. People keep food items in plastic containers with great care and it is the use of packaging that makes people fall in love with plastic.

Actually, any artificial thing is invented or manufactured by man for his convenience, plastic is also an artificial thing made for convenience, which made human life easier to a great extent. Due to this convenience, its use increased day by day and increased to such an extent that its side effects became severe. Talking about the harm caused by plastic, its biggest side effect is that it takes 500 to 1,000 years to completely decompose and till then it contaminates the soil. At the same time, plastic waste has now reached rivers and seas, due to which more than 10 lakh sea creatures and birds are dying every year.
However, plastic is not only harming the environment in the form of waste, but its production is also dangerous for the environment, because 8 percent of the total oil in the world is consumed in the production of plastic. Obviously the use of plastic in every form is destructive to the environment and life. But the question is how to deal with it, then let us tell you that every question has its answer, like if today plastic has become one of our habits, then why not change these habits.

How to get rid of plastic
In fact, changing the habit we have of using plastic is the most effective solution to deal with this problem. In fact, we are using plastic voluntarily, it is not that we do not have any other alternative. Because our work was going on even before plastic items came into the market, items made of other metals were used instead of plastic, but when the alternative of plastic came in front of us, we adopted plastic and that too in abundance. It is said that excess of anything is bad and this excess of plastic also did the same to us. Today it has become a threat to human life as well as to other animals and the environment. So, through these changes in our habits, let us resolve to give up the use of plastic on this 2nd October for a clean India as well as a better life and future.

If we want to get rid of this bad addiction of plastic, we will have to change our habits. Therefore, from today onwards, pay attention to your habits and try to minimize the use of plastic. As-
1. Remove single-use plastic from every home and office.
2. Always carry a cloth bag with you while going out, so that if you buy anything from outside, you do not have to take a plastic bag to keep it.
3. Pack household garbage in bad paper as far as possible.
4. Instead of throwing away old plastic bottles, you can reuse them for planting plants or for other household purposes.
5. Always keep drinking water in copper or other metal bottles.
6. Take office lunch in steel or other metal utensils.
