Be it an everyday item or making a payment to someone, thanks to UPI payment, payment can be sent and received in one go. With the advent of UPI, while the trend of digital payments increased and people benefited, on the other hand hackers or scammers also started doing UPI scams to defraud people.

Is UPI PIN required to receive money?
If some unknown person asks you to scan the UPI code to receive money, then understand that the person is trying to trap you. According to NCPI, QR codes are not scanned to receive money but to send money. There is no need to scan QR code or enter UPI PIN to receive money.

Is it right to share UPI PIN?
Most people have understood that UPI PIN should not be shared with anyone, which is why hackers make people download the app. If any transaction takes place in the app through which you make payment through UPI, then your UPI PIN and other important and financial information will reach the hacker. Overall, you should neither listen to any unknown person, nor download any app, nor share your UPI PIN.

These safety tips will protect you from online scams
Do not be hasty while making payment on any site, first check the URL of the site whether the site on which you are making payment is safe or not?
Also install anti-virus/anti-malware software on your phone, laptop and other devices. These software work to keep you safe by identifying virus-containing apps and blocking them.
If some unknown person lures you to win money and asks you to send money, then be alert. Don't make the mistake of accepting payment requests.
