Top Car Companies: There is strong demand for SUVs in India. Mahindra has become the third largest car company in the country by defeating Tata on the basis of SUVs. Recently the booking of Mahindra Thar Rocks started and people booked the new off-road SUV in large numbers. Within just 1 hour of opening of booking, 1.76 lakh bookings were made for Thar Rocks. Mahindra hopes that its dominance can continue in the coming times, because in the next phase the company will also introduce a born-electric SUV range.

Mahindra sold a total of 1,35,962 units in the third quarter of 2024, which is 6,028 units more than Tata's current sales of 1,29,934 units. September 2024 was no different. Last month, Mahindra sold 51,062 units. In response to this, Tata Motors sold only 41,065 units in September. In this way Mahindra got an increase of 9,997 units. India's largest car company is Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai comes at the second position.

The beauty of these Mahindra SUVs

The reason behind the increase in Mahindra's sales in September can be attributed to the strong demand for SUVs. This includes sales of Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, XUV700, Thar, XUV3XO, Bolero and Bolero Neo SUVs. Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic and XUV700 together rule the mid-size SUV segment. Their combined market share is more than 75 percent.

Tata ahead in July and August

Mahindra's XUV3XO has also been liked by the people. Its sales have almost doubled in recent months. The performance of Tata Motors was much better than Mahindra in July and August. In July, Tata sold 44,727 units, while Mahindra's sales stood at 41,623 units. In August, the gap between the two reduced to 865 units.

Mahindra achieved high growth

Tata sold 44,142 units in August. Whereas, Mahindra sold 43,277 units. In September, Mahindra has achieved the highest growth rate of about 24 percent among all the car companies. Last month, out of 14 car companies, only 3 companies have achieved positive growth rate year on year. Apart from Mahindra, Kia (17.49 percent) and Toyota (7.37 percent) got positive growth.
