According to research, only bacteria were found in 50% of the samples. Only 6.3 percent nail fungus. Both bacteria and fungi were found in 43.7 percent of the samples. This research was done on toenails but it also applies to hands. Because hands are used throughout the day, germs easily accumulate inside the nails.

 

According to research, the bacteria and fungi living inside the nails are mostly harmless, but for people with weak immune systems or who have had injuries to their nails, these bacteria and fungi can cause serious problems.
