Sanjay's family members nominated Sushil Gurjar in this case, but it is said that due to Sushil's fear, no witness came forward and he was acquitted by the court. When Sanjay's mother was murdered, Sushil Gurjar's name was also included in it. Sushil Gurjar was also accused of murdering Sanjay Pradhan's mother and was said to be his main conspirator, but in both the cases the court acquitted Sushil Gurjar.

Whereas in the year 2023, Sushil Gurjar was arrested by Haridwar Police of Uttarakhand on charges of demanding extortion money of Rs 50 lakh from a property dealer. Due to his growing closeness with jailed Sunil Rathi, when notorious criminal Chinu Pandit was attacked in the jail, Sushil Gurjar was also accused of the same. Whereas Sushil Gurjar says that when Chinu Pandit was attacked, he was in a hospital in Dehradun with his ailing father.
