After making his international debut on Sunday, October 6, against Bangladesh, India’s Mayank Yadav sent an emotional message on social media. Since he announced his run-up before the toss, all eyes have been on the young player, and in his first competitive match in almost five months, he did not disappoint. In April, he made his last appearance in the Indian Premier League.

In the IPL 2024, Mayank made headlines when he bowled for the Lucknow Super Giants and reached a speed of 150 kmph. He sustained an injury during the competition, and six months after returning to the field, he was given an India cap.

Mayank made headlines right away as he beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore with the quickest delivery of 156.7 kmph. Before an injury declared him out for the season, he took seven wickets in four games.

“Playing for your nation and donning the blue jersey is the finest feeling for a cricket player, and for me, it’s like a dream come true. This will always be my favorite time in my life ,” Mayank said on Instagram.

On his T20I debut for India, Mayank started off strong with a maiden over, making history as the third Indian cricketer to do so after pacers Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh. With a strong final 4-1-21-1 spell, he dismissed Mahmudullah.

After garnering attention worldwide for his 150 kmph bowling during the IPL, Mayank showed impressive speed during his first 2-1-3-1 stint.

There were concerns about Mayank’s long-term health after a stellar debut due to a side issue, but he allayed some of those fears in the first Twenty20 International.

Before achieving 148.7 kmph with the opening delivery of his second over, Mayank managed to reach 145.7 kmph with his second delivery of the evening.

On October 9, India and Bangladesh will play the second Twenty20 International at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Mayank’s home field.
