As the festival season is approaching, it is very important to keep in mind that there will be bank holidays during this period. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India, banks are going to remain closed for three to four consecutive days in many states. In which second Saturday and Sunday are also off. In October, many states will remain closed for 15 days in the month of October due to state specific festivals. These bank holidays will also include all Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays. Let us also tell you that on festivals like Dussehra, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days.

Banks will remain closed for 4 days in these states

Banks in the states of Tripura, Assam and Bengal will remain closed on 10, 11, 12 and 13 October. Banks in Sikkim will remain closed on 11, 12, 13, 14 October.

There will be holidays in these states

  • Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Saptami): 10 October- Banks are closed in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, Bengal.
  • Dussehra (Mahashtami/Mahanavami)/Ayudha Puja/Durga Puja (Dassain)/Durga Ashtami: 11 October- Banks in Tripura, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya Are closed.
  • Dussehra/Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashami)/Durga Puja (Dasai) – 12 October – Being the second Saturday of the month, banks are closed in all the states.
  • Durga Puja (Dasain) – 14 October – Banks are closed in Sikkim.

Bank holidays in October

  • Lakshmi Puja- 16 October- Banks are closed in Tripura and Bengal.
  • Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu- 17 October- Banks are closed in Karnataka, Assam, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Accession Day- 26 October- Banks are closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
  • Diwali (Deepawali)/Kali Puja/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Birthday/Narak Chaturdashi- Banks are closed in most of the states except Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya.
