Announcement to run 6,556 special trains

Indian Railways on Monday announced that it has planned to run 6,556 special trains from October 1 to November 30, keeping in mind the convenience and demand of passengers during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja. An additional 12,500 coaches will be made available to increase comfort and accessibility for passengers during Diwali and Chhath Puja. This is a significant increase compared to last year, when 4,429 special trains were run during the festive season.

South Western Railway will run this many trains

To meet the increasing passenger demand during the Dussehra festival, South Western Railway is running 24 special trains with 52 trips, has also provided temporary stoppages for three trains and is increasing the number of coaches for 34 trains temporarily. Additionally, for Diwali, SWR will operate 6 special trains with eight trips each from different locations across Karnataka. Other regional railways have also started 22 special trains with 264 trips.
