Elections were held in three phases for 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The results are to come on 8th October. In the third phase, voting was held in Vijaypur seat of Jammu region. From here, National Conference had given ticket to Rajesh Pargotra and Bharatiya Janata Party to Chandra Prakash Ganga. People's Democratic Party (PDP) had given ticket to Bachan Lal. Vijaypur assembly seat of Jammu region falls in Samba district. It is part of Jammu Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2014 assembly elections, BJP had given ticket to Chandra Prakash. He had registered victory. He defeated Surjit Singh Salathia of National Conference (NC).

He had registered this victory by a margin of 12 thousand 172 votes. In the 2014 elections, there were 1 lakh 8 thousand 124 candidates on Vijaypur seat. In 2014, assembly elections were held in five phases from 25 November to 20 December. There was 81.31 percent voting in Vijaypur seat.
