Seven players from Uruguay are notcapped for the World Cup qualifiers

Joaquin Lavega, a striker for River Plate, was one of seven uncapped players included in Uruguay’s World Cup qualifying team to face Ecuador and Peru.

Other additions include Pablo Suarez of the Montevideo Wanderers, Lucas Sanabria of Nacional, Facundo Bernal of Fluminense, Alaves defender Santiago Mourino, Gimnasia attacker Matias Abaldo, and midfielder Marco Orona of Universidad de Chile.

According to Xinhua, manager Marcelo Bielsa has also called up Darwin Nunez of Liverpool, Jose Maria Gimenez of Atletico Madrid, and Mathias Olivera of Napoli, a left defender who missed Uruguay’s September qualifiers because of a suspension.

Uruguay will play Ecuador in Montevideo four days later and Peru in Lima next Friday.

With 15 points from 8 qualifiers, the Celeste are now ranked third in the South American zone rankings.

Uruguayan team:

Sergio Rochet, Santiago Mele, and Franco Israel are the goalkeepers.

Jose Luis Rodriguez, Nahitan Nandez, Mathias Olivera, Jose Maria Gimenez, Santiago Bueno, Santiago Mourino, Guillermo Varela, Jose Luis Rodriguez, and Marcelo Saracchi are the defenders.

The following players are midfielders: Giorgan de Arrascaeta, Lucas Sanabria, Nicolas Fonseca, Manuel Ugarte, Federico Valverde, Nicolas De La Cruz, Marco Orona, Facundo Bernal, Emiliano Martinez, and Manuel Ugarte.

Matias Abaldo, Facundo Pellistri, Darwin Nunez, Joaquin Lavega, Luciano Rodriguez, Pablo Suarez, Cristian Olivera, and Maximiliano Araujo are the forwards.
