Crystal Palace defender The football association of Colombia announced that Daniel Munoz would not play in the country’s World Cup qualifying matches because of an adductor injury.

Andres Roman, who was awarded for his steady achievements with Colombian team Atletico Nacional, has replaced the 28-year-old in the squad, according to Xinhua.

At an elevation of more than 4,100 meters above sea level, Colombia will play Bolivia on Thursday at El Alto. Five days later, it will play Chile in Barranquilla.

The Cafeteros will remain in the city of Cochabamba, which is located at an altitude of around 2,560 meters, until the day of the match in order to acclimate to the rarefied air of El Alto.

Colombia has 16 points from 8 qualifiers, enough for second place in the 10-team South American zone rankings.
