In a stunning turn of events, England bowler Chris Woakes was denied a famous catch on Tuesday during the first Test match against Pakistan.

Salman Ali Agha produced a thrilling moment in Multan on the second day of the match when he hammered a ball from Jack Leach towards the straight boundary in the 117th over of Pakistan’s first innings.

While fielding at long-off, Woakes made a spectacular play by pedaling back and catching the ball before tossing it into the air.

After that, he hopped back in to finish the catch after stepping inside the rope.

Early replays seemed to support the batter’s and all England fielders’ assessment that the catch was made cleanly.

However, after reviewing further slow-motion footage, third umpire Chris Gaffaney determined that Woakes was hitting the ground with the ball in his hand and his rear foot beyond the boundary.

The verdict was six, and Salman Agha’s subsequent smash of a half-century only made England’s problems worse.

Saud Shakeel and night watchman Naseem Shah added 64 additional runs to their innings when they resumed on the second day at 328/4, until the latter was removed for 33 in the 105th over.

Conversely, Shakeel amassed 82 runs off of eight back-out boundaries.

On the first day, the hosts were gifted an amazing start with to centuries from Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood (151).

In an attempt to start the series on the best possible note, Pakistan seized upon the encouraging start and advanced the score beyond 500 on the second day.

They have just lost the Test series 0-2 to Bangladesh at home, coming into the current three-match series.
