Olly Stone won’t likely participate in the second Test against Pakistan when he returns home for his wedding

It seems unclear that Olly Stone will be ready for the second Test in Multan since he is scheduled to travel home on Wednesday after his wedding this weekend, following England’s tour of Pakistan.

At the conclusion of the English summer, Stone made his first appearances in the format in three years, taking seven wickets in two Test matches against Sri Lanka.

For the first Test in Multan, England selected Brydon Carse as their fast option, which meant that Stone could leave sooner than expected.

Stone’s comeback date is still up in the air and will be contingent on how England’s fast bowlers do after the first Test. But it’s unlikely that he will play because the second Test starts on Tuesday and he is getting married on Saturday.

For the first Test, England’s seamers were Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, and Carse; Matthew Potts was also included in the team.

Given that Stone was not included in their most recent central contracts and that his wedding was scheduled far in advance of his return, the England management has granted Stone’s request for a leave of absence.

Before the tour, Stone spoke with England’s managing director Rob Key and coach Brendon McCullum about his intentions, and they decided he should go home to be married.

“We scheduled the nuptials based on the understanding that I was the only player for Notts at the moment,” Stone recently said to the BBC, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

“I was determined to keep the wedding where it was, if at all possible, and Jessica said she would be pleased to relocate it. “I felt that trying to make it work was the least I could do, given everything she has given up and sacrificed for me,” he said.

Seamer Tony Pigott had, on England’s 1984 tour of New Zealand, abruptly called off his wedding to play in what would be his last Test match.

Due to scheduling issues, contractual athletes have also delayed marriages in more recent times.

On Saturday, Joe Root revealed that he and his spouse Carrie had rescheduled their nuptials “three times due to different tours.”

Joe Root, a former England captain, said that Stone will be leaving the trip with the best wishes of his teammates.

As to the comment from ESPNcricinfo, “It’s a special time in anyone’s life,” said Root.

“I’m really happy for him. With everything going on, I’m sure he’s all over the place, but it will be very meaningful for him and his wife to begin a new chapter in their lives. At some point, we’ll all be celebrating and raising a cold one for him,” Root said.
