UP: ‘Get mehendi applied only after seeing your identity’, controversial banner put up outside the temple in Meerut

A surprising case has come to light from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. A controversial banner has been put up in Balaji Temple located in Sadar Bazaar here. In this banner, an appeal has been made to women to identify those who apply mehendi during festivals and not to get mehendi applied without identification. Such banners have been put up at many places in the city and it is being told that such banners are going to be put up in many more parts of the city for which about 250 more banners have been prepared.

In the posh market of Meerut, some young men and women were sitting outside the shops to apply henna so that women who want to get henna applied during festivals and wedding seasons can easily get it applied. Many such youths sit in many areas of Meerut like Abulen, Sadar, Central Market, Shastri Nagar. It is believed that most of the people are from non-community, hence in this banner it has been said that women should ask the identity of the people before getting mehendi applied.

What did the Mahant of Balaji temple say?

Mahendra Das of Balaji temple of Sadar police station area, while mentioning the spitting incident and urine incident in the banner, has asked people from non-community not to get mehendi applied. This banner has been put up at many places in the city. Mahant Mahendra Das of Balaji Temple said that this appeal has been made for the safety and respect of women. He said that before applying mehendi, it is important to check the identity and background of the person applying it.

Another 250 banners are getting ready

Mahant Mahendra Das of Balaji Temple said that 250 such posters are being prepared which will be put up in many areas of the city and these banner posters have also been put up in the Ramlila going on at Bhaisali Ground in Cantt. Mahant Mahendra Das has told that banners and posters have also been put up in the Kali temple of Sadar Bazar and their purpose is to stop people from non-community from getting mehendi applied and to get mehendi applied from their own people. If the people around are to be believed, they say that no one should hide his identity, he should reveal his identity. On the other hand, shopkeepers are also being told not to hire people from other communities.
