When the police investigated, they found out that the woman was subjected to this condition by her husband and in-laws. The woman's name is Anita Mishra. She is a resident of Bichiya village of UP Gorakhpur. In the year 2009, Anita was married to deaf and mute Arun Mishra. But due to not having a child, the in-laws got Arun married to another woman. He is also deaf and dumb. When Anita protested against this, they locked her in a small room.

Anita told- Her in-laws come to this room and beat her. They are not even given food. When he feels like it, sometimes he gives him something dry to eat. Apart from her husband and in-laws, her step-in-law also beats her. They are not even allowed to go to the toilet. He has to plead a lot even to go to the bathroom.

After this incident, the police rescued the hostage woman and took her with them. Along with this, she also took the accused husband along. Police said- Anita, who was held hostage for years, has been rescued. The woman has accused her husband and his second wife of taking her hostage and assaulting her.
