On October 1, a week ago, a major incident was reported from Lan Sak, a city in Thailand, where 23 children and teachers died in a bus fire in Lan Sak city, who were given a final farewell together. On Tuesday morning, the victim families gathered in the same school in Uthai Thani, where the children studied and the teachers worked. Parents dressed in black took their children to the coffins being carried and kept their photos and toys near them.
Six teachers and 39 primary and junior high school students were on board the bus when it caught fire on a highway in Pathum Thani, a northern suburb of Bangkok, on October 1. The fire engulfed the bus so quickly that only 22 people could be rescued. The badly burned bodies were identified after forensic work in Bangkok.
After this incident, anger spread and the authorities were asked to take immediate legal action, after which the police arrested the bus driver on charges of negligent driving. Police informed that the bus driver is accusing the woman in whose name the bus was registered of negligence. Along with this, it also came to light that the bus was inspected just 4 months before this incident.
Transport officials were then being investigated. In the wake of the incident, investigators found that the bus had 11 natural gas canisters installed, while it had a permit for only six canisters. Officials said the bus was more than 50 years old and had been modified to run on CNG, which is used primarily to save money. Police believe that one of the gas tubes in the canisters had come loose, causing a spark and igniting the leaking gas.
