Why does UTI occur after sexual intercourse?

• Experts say that the genital area and the urine site are close to each other. In such a situation, the activity that takes place during intercourse pushes bacteria towards the urinary tract. This causes UTI problems.
• Many people use spermicidal lubricants while having physical relations, this also causes infection. Lubricants change the bacterial balance of the intimate area, which increases the risk of infection.
• Many times people do not take care of hygiene, they wear the same clothes for two to four days and after this, during intercourse, harmful bacteria present in each other's intimate area get exchanged and this also causes UTI.
• Many times during intercourse, a scratch or cut occurs and this also causes infection.

Protect yourself like this

• It is very important to take care of hygiene before having physical relations. Clean the intimate area thoroughly from front and back.
• Use a condom.
• If one partner is experiencing symptoms of UTI, avoid having sex.
• For personal hygiene, take a bath daily and change your undergarments daily.
