There are many characters in Mahabharata about whom many people do not know. One such character is Bhanumati. Bhanumati was not an ordinary woman. She was very beautiful and intelligent.

For your information, let us tell you that Bhanumati was the daughter of King Chandravarma of Kamboj. She was adept at wrestling. In this Swayamvar, Bhanumati did not choose Duryodhana and moved towards other warriors.  

Duryodhan felt that this was an insult to him. But Duryodhan forcibly put the garland of Swayamvar around his neck and made her his wife. All the kings were extremely angry at this act of Duryodhan. But Duryodhan challenged all the warriors to a war.

After this, Duryodhan's friend Karna defeated all the kings. With the help of Karna, Duryodhan kidnapped King Chitrangada's daughter Bhanumati from a swayamvara and married her.
