Early on October 11, 2024, a hit-and-run accident involving an Audi near the Google office in Koregaon Park claimed the life of motorbike rider Ruouf Akbar Sheikh in Pune. At around 1:30 AM, many automobiles were engaged in the collision.

On the route connecting the ABC route to Tadi Guta Chowk, the driver of an Audi reportedly struck three people on an Activa scooter before striking Sheikh’s motorbike. After the first impact, Sheikh was thrown to the ground and struck by a car from behind, which resulted in serious injuries.

Sheikh was taken to Noble Hospital but died from his wounds. The Audi’s driver departed the scene, but the event was caught on camera, allowing the police to get the car’s registration number. As a result, the driver was identified as Hadapsar resident Ayush Pradeep Tyal, 34. The car that was involved in the collision has been confiscated, and he was subsequently found at home.

A formal complaint has been filed against Tyal under many sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges such as hit and run and causing death by carelessness. The inquiry is still underway, and legal actions are being taken. Given the history of high-profile automobile accidents in the region, this occurrence raises questions about road safety.
