Iranian and Qatari officials talk about the Gaza and Lebanon situations

The visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, on Thursday to talk about recent regional developments and bilateral ties.

According to a statement from Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Xinhua news agency said the two ministers discussed areas of common interest and collaboration between their nations. They also discussed the most recent events in the region, namely in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

According to the statement, the minister from Qatar stressed the need for “coordinated regional and international efforts to reduce escalation and avoid the expansion of the circle of violence in the region.”

“To do everything possible to enhance security and stability at the regional and international levels,” he reaffirmed Qatar’s complete commitment, the statement added.

Regarding his “important exchanges” with the Qatari minister, Araghchi said on Thursday on the social networking site X that Qatar and Iran “share common concerns and interests, (and are) determined to cooperate.”

The Iranian foreign minister said, “Our region faces difficult challenges that need to be addressed through close consultations and joint efforts.”
