AAP gave support to NC, independent MLAs also supported

Elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years and the National Conference-Congress alliance won these elections and achieved majority. After this, Aam Aadmi Party will also support NC-Congress. Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party on Friday officially announced its support to the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Also, Aam Aadmi Party submitted a formal letter to the Lieutenant Governor's office supporting the National Conference. Aam Aadmi Party had tried its luck in the elections of Jammu and Kashmir and the party's account was also opened here.

AAP MLA wins

Aam Aadmi Party's Doda candidate Mehraj Malik won a big victory for the party. Mehraj Malik won by defeating BJP's Gajay Singh Rana by 4,538 votes. Overall, the party got only 0.52 percent vote share, but it was a historic victory for the Aam Aadmi Party in the valley. Aam Aadmi Party said, “Aam Aadmi Party will support JKNC in Jammu and Kashmir. The letter of support has been handed over to the Lieutenant Governor. You have one MLA in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.”

Independent MLAs supported

Four independent MLAs have also supported the NC before joining the Aam Aadmi Party candidate. On Thursday, independent MLAs Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Chaudhary Mohammad Akram, Satish Sharma and Pyare Lal Sharma decided to support the National Conference. Along with this, now the fifth independent MLA has also decided to support the party. Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, who won from Thanamandi and former judge, has also joined NC.

How many seats does NC have?

Elections were held in three phases on 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the results of which were revealed on October 8. NC emerged as the largest party. NC won 42 seats and Congress, which contested the elections in alliance with NC, won 6 seats. Whereas, BJP won 29 seats.

However, now after getting the support of Aam Aadmi Party and the support of 5 independent MLAs, NC has a total of 48 seats. At the same time, when combined with the Congress alliance, the total number of seats becomes 54. Also, after the victory, Omar Abdullah was elected the leader of JKNC Legislative Party in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Thursday, paving the way for him to become the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
