Vagamon's popular glass bridge has reopened for visitors. Due to safety concerns, it was not accessible for 125 days. However, the closure offered enough time to the civil engineering department at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kozhikode to conduct an interim safety report. This outlined the much-required necessary safety measures. After these recommendations were implemented, the bridge was given approval to reopen. The bridge which stands at a height of 3,600-foot offers the visitors an opportunity to enjoy sights from far-off spots like Kokkayar, Kuttikkal and Mundakkayam. There is also an adventure park nearby which includes attractions like sky cycling, sky wing, giant swing, sky roller, zipline, and a rocket injector. On the reopening day, around 600 tourists visited the site. According to Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) Secretary Jitheesh Jose, stricter safety checks will be kept in place. This will be in line with the NIT’s recommendations. Here are a few guidelines that you need to keep in mind.

  • Tickets per person will be priced at INR 250.
  • The bridge will remain temporarily closed, in case of bad weather.
  • Children who cannot walk and need to be carried will not be allowed on the bridge for safety reasons.
  • Senior citizens who have mobility issues will not be allowed to ensure their safety.
  • Running or playing on the bridge is prohibited.
  • You will likely need to wait around 2 to 3 hours on busy days.
