Back in 2003, M. F. Husain known to find his muse in Filmistan (like Madhuri Dixit, Amrita Rao, Tabu) had briefly gone Fida on Sushmita Sen.In a throwback interview, Sushmita told us, “We’ve been meeting for a while. His script wasn’t ready. I had requested to please leave my final decision for until the script was complete. I finally had a complete narration from him. And I liked the script very much. Husain Saab is one artiste I always wanted to be painted by. This is my chance.” Candid as ever, Sushmita admitted she didn’t know much about Husain’s art. “I don’t even have a Husain hanging on my wall at home. But I hope to. I like beautiful objects. I respond to objects of art instinctively. I'm really looking forward to Husain Saab’s film. It’s exactly like a painting on the wall. Everyone looks at the same painting but has different perceptions of it. I thought the script would be abstract. But it wasn’t. To me, it was like a beautiful face whose features and expressions are open to numerous interpretations. It’s such an exciting experience for me to have someone lay out the entire scenario for me and leave only the minor details to the performer. That becomes a bigger challenge to an actor than to have an unfinished script and character to interpret."ALSO READ: Speaking of her role in the proposed film, Sushmita had revealed, “I play a double role. It’s a story set in three cities Jaisalmer, Hyderabad, and Prague. The three cities embody three characters. Hyderabad embodies the man while the two other cities embody the two characters I play.” The film was eventually made with Tabu. It was called Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities. Sushmita was offered no explanation as to why Husain changed his mind.
