Railways issued this notification

The Ministry of Railways issued a notification to change the railway booking system on Thursday i.e. 17 October 2024. I was told that the time limit for making advance reservation has been changed. Now the reservation will start 60 days in advance, which used to start 120 days in advance. The Railway Ministry has also given the reason for taking this decision.

When will this rule be implemented?

According to the notification of the Ministry of Railways, the new change in the advance reservation booking system will come into effect from November 1, 2024. This means that the system of making reservations 120 days in advance till October 31 will continue. At the same time, the system of making reservations 60 days in advance will be implemented from November 1, 2024. In simple language, on October 31, you will be able to book tickets till February 25, 2025. At the same time, from November 1, 2024, you will be able to make advance reservation only till December 30.

What will happen to those whose tickets are already booked?

In India, the general public starts booking etc. along with planning to travel anywhere. In such a situation, there will be many people who would have already booked their tickets. In such a situation, the question arises whether the new decision of the Ministry of Railways will have any effect on those passengers. Let us tell you that the Ministry of Railways has also given information about this in its notification. It has been told that the new decision will not have any effect on the tickets booked before November 1.

How will tickets be available in trains that are fully booked?

The new rule of the Railways has increased the heartbeat of many passengers. Actually, there are many railway routes in the country, where the seats in the trains get full as soon as the 120-day limit starts. In such a situation, the question is how will the passengers get tickets in these trains. For example, if we look at the booking in Goa Express from New Delhi to Pune, then there is 11 waiting on January 11, 2025. There are three RAC on January 12, one RAC on February 13, five RAC on February 14 and two waiting on January 15. Now the Ministry of Railways has not given any information on how people will get tickets after the implementation of the advance reservation system of 60 days in advance on November 1. Let us tell you that due to the new rule, passengers may have to face trouble in booking tickets in December 2024, January 2025 and February 2025.
