As per a report published in Desimartini, Gnanavel Raja was talking about having enough break before taking a certain film franchise ahead and that's when he used Baahubali 3 as an example. He said, "Baahubali 3 is in the planning stages. I found out while discussing with filmmakers last week. They did Baahubali 1 and 2 back-to-back, but they're now planning Baahubali 3 after a gap." He then went on to talk about the other popular franchises and how the related filmmakers are taking their sweet time to develop their sequels. The producer added, "Similarly, Kalki 1 is out, and Kalki 2 will be made after two other movies. Even Salaar and Salaar 2 will have a gap between them. Once the audience connects with the characters, they will enjoy them whenever they are made. Take, for example, Suriya's Singam series. There was a gap of three to four movies between each instalment." The statement comes as a surprise to the fans of the blockbuster film series, considering both director SS Rajamouli and actor Prabhas have denied the rumours of having Baahubali 3 in the past. The director is, in fact, working on his next with Mahesh Babu, which is going to be an action-adventure. In an interview earlier this year, Rajamouli talked about taking the Baahubali universe beyond films. He mentioned during the launch of the animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood that he is more keen towards expanding the Baahubali franchise into games, anime and books than films.
