An accident took place in the second semi-final match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 being played in UAE, where a player was hit hard on the head by a ball while fielding. In this semi-final match being played in Sharjah, the teams of New Zealand and West Indies were face to face. The Kiwi team batted first in this match. During her batting, a batsman hit a strong shot but West Indies player Shinel Henry could not catch it and the ball hit her directly on her forehead just above her left eye, due to which Henry had to immediately leave the field.

Got injured while trying to catch.

This accident happened in the 12th over of the first innings of this match in Sharjah on Friday, 18 October. On the first ball of this over, New Zealand batsman Amelia Karr played a shot towards long on, where Henry was fielding. She had an easy chance to take the catch but due to the floodlights she could not see the ball properly and the ball touched her fingers and hit her directly on her forehead. Not only did she miss the catch, Henry also fell on the ground. She started moaning in pain and seeing this the medical staff immediately came to the field.

The medical staff examined Henry's injury for a long time and when it became clear that his pain was severe, he was immediately taken off the field. According to reports, Henry was also walking in the dressing room with the help of support staff. Even after West Indies started batting, there were concerns about his fitness and work was going on to relieve his pain. However, before the injury, Henry had contributed to the team. He spent only 24 runs in his 4 over spell. He did not get any wicket but Henry bowled tightly.

New Zealand's batting did not work

As far as the match is concerned, New Zealand's batting once again did not look very effective. Batting first, the Kiwi team could score only 128 runs in 20 overs. For that, Georgia Plimmer scored the highest score of 33 runs in 31 balls, while in the last overs, Isabella Gage scored 20 runs in just 14 balls to take the team to a competitive score. For West Indies, star all-rounder Deandra Dottin took 4 wickets for just 22 runs. The team that wins this match will face South Africa in the final.
