The Tamil film ' Vettaiyan ' was released in theatres on October 10. Directed by TJ Gnanavel , the film is an action entertainer and the movie stars Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead oles. The movie received mixed reviews after its release and in the first week it made a remarkable collection of more than Rs 100 crore and now the film is entering the second week with a slow start.

'Vettaiyan' on second monday has reportedly dropped by 74% according to Sacnilk and after nine days the movie is said to have grossly made Rs 124 crore nett, in India. The film is running in theatres now with 17.15%. The film in first weekend made more than Rs 75 crore in India and following the long dussehra weekend, the film's rating dropped and it is likely to end its run in theatres by the end of third week.

The film is also set to make its digital premiere on Amazon Prime and the OTT release date of the film is yet to be announced by the makers. The movie's cast also includes Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Abhirami, Rakshan, Rohini among others and the music for it is composed by Anirudh Ravichander .

Recently the filmmakers celebrated the success of the film with Rajinikanth, Anirudh and TJ Gnanavel and the director said that he is looking forward to make another film - which will be a prequel of 'Vettaiyan' and stated that his idea is to delve deeper into the life of Athiyan and what made him the encounter specialist.

On the work front, after the commercial success of 'Vettaiyan', Rajinikanth is now resuming his shooting for the film ' Coolie ' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie stars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj , Soubin Shahir , Upendra Rao and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. The first shchedule shooting has been wrapped up in Hyderabad and the second schedule is now underway in Chennai. Bollywood star Aamir Khan is also reportedly said to play a cameo role in the film; and the music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
