Indian merchants often engage in a practice called muhurat trading. There is a one-hour window of time on Diwali day that is considered fortunate for stock investments. The stock exchange determines the time for Muhurat trading each year.

“Muhurat” denotes a lucky break. In Hindu religion, it’s called Muhurat when the planets align favorably to ensure good things happen.

What makes Muhurat trading crucial?

There are beliefs that merchants who do business at this hour have a higher chance of making money and experiencing success throughout the year. This is often on the evening of Diwali, and most people would choose to use this occasion to buy stocks in honor of Goddess Lakshmi.

Time and Date of Muhurat Trading in 2024

A formal statement on the time of Muhurat Trading has not yet been made. The BSE and NSE will issue a separate announcement in this respect prior to Diwali in 2024. “Muhurat Trading shall be held on November 1, 2024 (Diwali-Laxmi Pujan),” said the BSE website.

The Muhurat Trading Timings will be announced later.”Trading in the equities and equity derivatives section typically begins at 6:15 PM and finishes at 7:15 PM, as it has in the past. Participants should be aware that all intraday positions will automatically be squared off fifteen minutes before the session ends. It is important for those trading on the same day to make adequate plans for this.

November Stock Market Holiday

November 2024 will have two stock market holidays: Friday, November 15, 2024 will be Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev, and Friday, November 1, 2024 will be Diwali Laxmi Pujan.
