Immediately remove Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta… Election Commission gave instructions

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed to remove acting Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta with immediate effect. The Election Commission gave this instruction to the Jharkhand government on Saturday. In the order issued by the Election Commission, it has been said that he should be removed from the post of DGP with immediate effect and the charge should be handed over to the senior most DGP level officer available in the cadre.

Let us tell you that there is voting in Jharkhand in two phases on 13th November and 20th November. The process of nomination for the first phase of the elections has started.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has directed to remove the acting DGP with immediate effect. Sources say that many complaints were received against DGP Anurag Gupta in the last elections.

Decision taken on the basis of complaint in last election

Election Commission sources say that the decision to remove Anurag Gupta has been taken on the basis of the history of complaints against him during the previous elections and the action taken by the Election Commission.

Sources say that the state government has sought a list of potential DGP officers. According to that, the senior officer of the post of DGP will be given the charge of the post of DGP.

Sources said that the Election Commission directed the Jharkhand government to follow the instructions and submit the report by 7 pm on Saturday evening.

Along with this, the Election Commission has said that the government should submit a panel of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers by 10 am on October 21, so that the new DGP can be appointed.

Anurag Gupta was accused earlier also

It is noteworthy that earlier in the year 2019, during the Lok Sabha elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had accused Anurag Gupta of biased conduct. After that he was relieved from the post of ADG (Special Branch) of Jharkhand and was posted in the Resident Commissioner office in Delhi. There was a ban on returning to Jharkhand until the election process was completed.

Along with this, during the Rajya Sabha elections from Jharkhand in 2016, he was also accused of misuse of power. The charge sheet was issued against him after a departmental inquiry.
