' Only Murders in the Building ' Season 4 has a plot twist that would not only shake the latest storyline but also cast a darker shadow on events from Season 1. Picking up from where Season 3 left, the trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel now has to investigate the shocking death of Sazz Pataki , one of Charles' close friends. As they dig deeper into her murder, they unearth another much more astounding mystery: the remains of another body belonged to a man called Milton Dudenoff; it was discovered in the incinerator of the Arconia .

It happens that Dudenoff was no ordinary resident. He owned a few apartments in the Arconia's West Tower and let them out to the Westies-a rather motley crew of oddball tenants-at rentals that were suspiciously low. The trio quickly discovers that Dudenoff had been dead long before Tim Kono 's murder, the mystery that launched their podcast back in Season 1.

He had indeed planned the killing, dressed up as a suicide, to this end-to make sure that the Westies were not evicted. On a cassette tape, Dudenoff had penned a suicide note after he was told that he didn't have long to live, and he decided that he would top himself and asked the Westies to burn his body in the Arconia's incinerator, and hopefully, they would still receive his social security checks and continue to stay in their apartment, out of reach of the law. The Westies reluctantly followed his final wishes, keeping his death a secret for years.

This revelation, horrific, adds a terrifying layer to what happened even earlier on the show. Dudenoff's death occurred prior to Tim Kono's murder, so the building had been a place of hidden death and secrets long before the podcast began. This dark past now makes the Arconia's history feel even more ominous.

Though Dudenoff was not killed, his death was part of the mosaic of the creepy history of the Arconia. It ties up some loose ends but gives new questions to the other people that can be lurking in the shadows. The series kinda hints that someone in the Arconia is still watching and pulling the strings, especially with all the peculiar "I'M WATCHING YOU" messages, which are reminders of the mysterious note found in Season 1.
