China is considered a very advanced country in terms of technology. Recently, China has proved this by making the world's fastest running robot. American billionaire businessman Elon Musk's Tesla company is working on creating a humanoid robot 'Tesla Optimus'. But the speed of China's robot has left Tesla's robot behind. The name of the Chinese robot being talked about here is STAR1. It has been made by a company called Robot Era.

In a promotional video, the Robot Era team pitted two STAR1 robots against each other in the Gobi Desert of North-West China. The company has one of robot Ran wearing sneakers. This was done so that it could be seen whether this robot would be able to run faster or not.

Top Speed of STAR1 Robot

STAR1 robot is a human-like robot, which can run at a speed of slightly more than 13 kilometers per hour. Meaning its speed can go up to 3.6 meters per second. This makes it the fastest machine of its kind ever built, although this speed is only achieved with the help of extra shoes.

Performance of STAR1 Robot

The height of the STAR1 robot is 5 feet 7 inches (171 cm), and its weight is 65 kg. On the basis of its performance, this Chinese robot has left behind not only Tesla Optimus robot but also Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot.

Wearing footwear equipped with high-torque motors and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, STAR1 traversed a variety of terrains, including grass and gravel. It jogged on paved roads and earth, and maintained its top speed for 34 minutes.

This robot's record was broken

The top speed of 13 kilometers per hour means it beats Unity's H1 robot, which set a record in March 2024 by running at about 12 kilometers per hour. Although STAR1 was supported by footwear, H1 was not technically jogging or running because both of its feet were not leaving the ground simultaneously during the movement.
